Use battery storage where it solves a real site-energy problem
Battery energy storage can support EV charging, manage peaks, use more on-site generation and add flexibility—but only when the use case, controls and commercial model are sound. EVC Group assesses storage as part of the complete site architecture.
Storage is a system decision, not a standalone product
A battery sits between the electrical supply, site load, generation, charging infrastructure and energy market. Its value depends on how those elements interact over time. Specifying capacity without a clear operating strategy can create an expensive asset that does not solve the original constraint.
EVC begins with interval data, operational requirements and the connection position, then develops the battery use case alongside the EV charging and site electrical design.
Potential use cases
Support constrained charging capacity
A battery may supplement grid power during charging peaks and recharge when demand is lower. The achievable benefit depends on battery power, energy capacity, recharge time, losses and the repeatability of the load profile.
Peak management
Storage can reduce short-duration site peaks where the tariff, connection agreement and operating pattern create a meaningful commercial case.
Renewable energy integration
A battery can store surplus on-site generation for later site or charging use, increasing self-consumption where generation and demand occur at different times.
Resilience and operational flexibility
Storage may support selected loads or operational continuity, but backup performance is not automatic. Islanding, changeover, protection, duration and critical-load design must be specifically engineered.
Energy-market participation
Some projects may access flexibility or grid-service revenues through suitable controls, metering, contracts and market partners. Revenue assumptions are variable and should not be treated as guaranteed.
Where BESS can strengthen EV infrastructure
Fleet depots with short, predictable charging peaks
Sites waiting for, phasing or avoiding part of a connection upgrade
Rapid-charging locations with limited import capacity
Commercial properties combining solar, charging and wider site demand
Projects that need controlled power delivery across chargers and buildings
Battery storage will not be right for every constrained site. Load management, operational scheduling, a different charging mix or a conventional grid upgrade may be simpler and more economic.
Our project approach
1. Data and objective
Define the operational problem, collect interval data and establish connection, tariff, generation and charging assumptions.
2. Technical concept
Model battery power and energy requirements, charge/discharge windows, losses, degradation, controls and electrical interfaces.
3. Commercial evaluation
Compare capital cost, operating cost, degradation, maintenance, energy savings, avoided or deferred infrastructure and any potential revenues using transparent assumptions.
4. Detailed design and approvals
Coordinate connection requirements, protection, metering, controls, equipment layout, access, fire strategy, planning and CDM responsibilities.
5. Delivery and integration
Procure, install, commission and integrate the battery with the charging and site-energy control strategy under a clearly defined project scope.
6. Monitoring and lifecycle support
Monitor performance against the intended use case, maintain the system and update operating strategy as site loads, tariffs or fleet requirements change.
Safety, planning and maintainability
Commercial battery systems require careful consideration of location, access, separation, ventilation or thermal management, detection and suppression strategy, emergency response, manufacturer requirements and the relevant planning and electrical approvals.
EVC coordinates specialist input and dutyholder responsibilities appropriate to the project. Public website copy should not imply that one generic fire or planning solution applies to every battery technology or site.
A technology-neutral assessment
Battery chemistry, enclosure, inverter, EMS and supplier should follow the project requirement. EVC can review technical fit, service model, warranties, degradation assumptions, integration capability, lead time and bankability before a product is selected.
Commercial clarity
Any business case should show its assumptions: load profile, tariff, future demand, efficiency, degradation, maintenance, replacement, connection cost, revenue sharing and project life. EVC uses scenario analysis to support decisions, not a single headline payback presented as certainty.

What Our Customers Say
The installation itself went as smooth as possible, and everything was left neat and tidy. When installation day came, Asif, the installer, contacted us well in advance with an ETA that was stuck to. Overall, the help, guidance, and service received from Andrew was exceptional. We had experienced problem after problem with our energy supplier (So Energy, for anyone interested) and genuinely thought this install wouldn't happen, but the team delivered a great experience.
Amazing customer service and communication by Andrew, i would highly recommend. Amazing company
EVC where very helpful throughout the process leading up to the installation, particularly in helping to resolve some of the challenges a 1930's house can introduce. The installer Oliver was very efficient and did an excellent job. Also EVC were easy to contact and quick to respond
They know their work load and optimised their time beautifully. No mucking rounding from their end. I had medical situation with my dad and they organised around me without adding stress to my day. I couldn’t have asked for a more co operative and caring company. On top of that, the engineer was polite, caring and clean! He left my house and drive clean. He kept us up to date on what he was doing and gave us enough notice for when power would go off and how long for and then gave us a full explanation on how to start and use the EV charger.
Thank you for today and the effort you have put in to get my charger in. It’s much appreciated.
My charger was installed by Oliver who contacted me to give me notice of his attendance. The install went really well and Oliver explained the whole charging process and app. I would highly recommend.
An excellent, efficient OHME EV charger installation by EVC. Asif fitted the equipment and cabling very neatly. Chris did a brilliant job replacing the block paving after digging a trench. He made a fantastic effort in levelling, cleaning and re-sanding the paving so It looked better than before.
Both Chris and Asif were pleasant and trustworthy. The good communication throughout from Andrew was appreciated. I highly recommend them and EVC to potential customers.
I can’t fault EVC from start to finish the communication has been excellent. Ours was a tricky install spanning a long distance and across a path but Asif, our engineer, fitted the wiring neatly and worked all day in the rain to ensure the work was completed. Asif was professional and friendly and a credit to EVC.
The communication from Andrew throughout made sure I knew what would happen when. I highly recommend this company.
I’d have Chris and Ollie back in a heartbeat.
